Approximately 900 artists from central and western desert communities make up the Anangu owned and directed collective that is Maruku.

Since 1984 Maruku has kept Anangu culture strong and alive through supporting Anangu artists to make punu (wood carvings), perform inma (ceremony), paint and share their culture.
