Bima Wear, established in 1969, is a Tiwi women’s fabric design, printmaking and clothing enterprise at Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island, Tiwi Islands.
Bima Wear produces unique fabric prints and sewn garments in brilliant, bold, timeless designs. Fabrics feature traditional symbols, structures, family systems and environmental representations that are central to Tiwi culture.
Stanalisha Coombes – Centre
Stanalisha Coombes began working with Bima Wear as a model in 2016. Last year she commenced developing her own textile and clothing designs for Bima Wear. These new designs of hers will be launched at the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair in 2019.
