April began painting at age 10. She continues to carry on the tradition of art in her family, which is currently practiced by 4 living generations including her mother, Charlene Carrington, her grandmother, Sadie Carrington and her great-grandmother, Betty Carrington. She draws upon her ancestral Gija and Nyarinyin countries and tribes for inspiration.
