MEDIA RELEASE 6th DECEMBER
The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation would like to congratulate Ben Wallace and Felicity Wright on being elected as Art Centre Representatives on the Board.
The Darwin Aboriginal Arts Fair was established in 2007. Its key mission was to develop an event to promote and celebrate Indigenous art from Art Centres across Australia. For those of you who have been involved in the Fair over the past seven years, you will be aware of the dynamism and exciting opportunities for the future of the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair.
In 2011-2012, the Foundation was established. This ensured that the ownership of the event remains in the hands of the Art Centres it represents. The Foundation has been established as a not for profit company, limited by guarantee, with a Board representation of nine directors. Board Member positions include the following positions:
- Larrakia Representative (1)
- Peak Body Representative (2)
- Art Centre Representative (3)
- Positions of Expertise (3) (which may include professionals or individuals with expertise in: arts and cultural industries, marketing, financial, cultural leadership)
The Inaugural General Meeting was held on the 20th November 2013. The Foundation is thrilled to announce that Ben Wallace (Curator, Bula’bula Arts) and Felicity Wright (Director, Injalak Arts & Craft) were elected to the two available Art Centre Representative positions on the Board.
Brian Tucker CPA has been appointed as the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation Limited auditor for 2014.
The 8th Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair will be held during the 8-10th August 2014.
